Tin ceiling tile measure 24" x 24" and come in 6”, 12” and 24” pressed pattern designs.
The 12 inch tin ceiling pattern has 4 impressions on the panel and is the most common pattern used. The 24 inch tin ceiling pattern has just one impression per panel and is utilized for larger ceilings. The 6 inch tin ceiling pattern has 16 impressions on the panel and is used for smaller areas like backsplashes and bathroom ceilings.
12" and 6" tin ceiling embossment patterns gennerally have shallow profile depths. Tin ceiling tile with shallow profile depths, usually under 1/4", can be installed wall to wall with the final perimeter panels cut to fit flush against the wall. Tin crown molding is then installed directly over the tin ceiling tile, hiding the cut edge. If the tin ceilin panel does not reach the wall, the remaining gap can be hidden by the tin crown molding, assuming the projection of the tin crown is sufficient to cover the gap. This is the most common tin ceiling installation scenario and is the easiest to complete.
Most 24" tin ceiling patterns have significant embossment profile depths, sometimes exceeding a 1/2". Installing tin crown molding over a panel with such a deep profile will result in a noticeable gap. This gap is unacceptable by most standards, therefore 24" tin ceiling patterns require an alternate installation method. The embossed tin ceiling tile are installed uncut, then the remaining area around the perimeter is finished with a filler tin ceiling tile, opposed to cropping the 24" embossed tin ceiling tile flush against the wall. The seam where the embossed tin ceiling tile meets the filler panel is commonly covered with a tin flat molding to produce a more pleasing aesthetic transition.
Our tin ceilings are the original tin plated steel, .010 thick T-1 gauge metal, not plastic, aluminum or styrofoam. The weight of each panel is approximately 1.75 - 2lbs. Our authentic tin ceiling tile are finished using an industrial powder coating process. We have developed our own custom formulated colors and antiquing methods to produce the most attractive tin ceiling tile in the entire industry!

The Nailup tin ceiling tile is the traditional product that initially popularized tin ceilings at the turn of the century. The Nailup tin ceiling tile hasn't changed in 130 years and is commonly what most retailers sell today. It requires a plywood substrate or furring strip grid spaced twenty-four inches on center. The grid must run both directions to support nailing every six inches on all four sides of the Nailup tin ceiling tile. The Nailup tin ceiling tile has a quarter inch overlapping nail flange that helps create a smooth transition from panel to panel, and minimizes the appearance of seams. Exposed nails are characteristic of the Nailup tin ceiling tile and are generally blended into the ceiling with matching paint. The standard Nailup tin ceiling tile measures 24" x 24" plus the 1/4" overlapping nail flange.

A tin backsplash application requires 6" pressed patterns to accomodate a typical 18" height backsplash. The Nailup tin panel is used for this application. A construction adhesive like Liquid Nails and/or AcrylPro is commonly used to adhere the tin backsplash panels to the wall.

Properly finished tin backsplash can be cleaned using a mild detergent and water. The traditional Nailup tin panels are used for wall applications. The Nailup tin panel has a 1/4" overlapping nail flange by which all of the corresponding tin panels overlap each other. This makes for a cleaner installation and produces the appearance of a somewhat seamless look. Because the average height of a backsplash is only 18", the 6” pattern is most often used for backsplash applications, as the smaller pattern provides a better aesthetic fill. With the standard 24" sized tin backsplash panel, you'll need to cut the top quarter of the tin panel to fit in the 18" wall height between the countertop and the cabinet. Using a 6" pattern will provide a 3 pattern vertical repeat, where as using a 12" pattern will only provide a 1-1/2 pattern vertical repeat. The tin backsplash panels are commonly cut with a standard tin snips. A factory edge of the tin backsplash panel should sit on the countertop. The top of the tin panel should be trimmed to fit flush against the cabinet. Most construction adhesives like Liquid Nails® or AcrylPro® will adhere the tin backsplash panels to the wall. A small decorative wood molding is generally used to cover the outside edges. Caulk is commonly used where the factory edge of the tin panel meets the countertop. Where the top trimmed piece of tin panel meets the cabinets, a small beveled molding can be used, but because this edge is not normally visible, this edge can be left untrimmed. The.010 tin plated steel has a fire rating of over 1300 degrees fahrenheit. Our powdercoat finishes are cured at approximately 400 degrees fahrenheit. We utilize a high-tech industrial powder coat finishing process for our tin backsplash panels. This is superior to any paint product in resisting acids, solvents, impact, abrasions and heat. For customers purchasing unfinished tin backsplash panels we recommend a minimum of a polyurethane clear coat be applied to the tin as a protectant.

Filler is a 24" x 24" size, .010 guage tin plated steel ceiling tile.
Filler is generally used:
•For ceilings with a complex perimeter
•For tin ceiling patterns with a deep profile depth that do not accommodate cropping
•For tin ceiling design layouts specifying filler
Instead of a pressed design, the filler panel has a flat, hammered texture which makes it ideal for filling perimeters, where a pressed tin panel would need to be cut to fit flush. It has no flanges, making it perfect for cutting into custom sized pieces.
•Some websites represent tin filler panels as being a requirement for a tin ceiling. This is not the case. In fact, the most common tin ceiling layout uses no tin filler at all and merely trims the pressed tin panel flush against the wall. However, for certain situations, tin filler is necessary. Tin filler panel is commonly installed by coating the backside with a construction adhesive and nailing the tin filler panel into the substrate, placing one nail every 6 inches around the perimeter of the tin filler panel. Tin flat molding is often used to transition between tin filler and pressed tin panels, and will hide any unsightly seams.

50 unique colors available in gloss, satin, matte and textured finishes.
•Will not rust or tarnish over time.
•Resistant to water and moisture.

•Available in all tin ceiling products.

The most attractive tin ceiling tiles in the entire industry.
Our tin ceiling tiles are finished using a high-end powder coat process. Powder coating produces extremely durable and attractive finishes. The quality of the finished product outlasts and outperforms painted parts. It also exceeds paint in resisting acids, solvents, impact, abrasions, heat and moisture. These high end finishes are available only from American Tin Ceilings.

All of our colors are applied using an industrial quality powder coat finishing process (suitable for outdoor, kitchen, or bathroom application). To our knowledge, we are the only tin ceiling company to exclusively utilize such a high-end finishing process. Each tin ceiling tile is hung on a conveyer line which runs the product through our automatic powder coating booth, then the ceiling product passes through our twenty foot radiant oven which bakes the finish at 450 degrees. This assures you of a permanent finished tin ceiling tile that will last a very, very long time. The colors will not fade or discolor over time and the finish is impervious to water, humidity, and rust. Powder coated pressed tin panels can be cleaned with common mild detergents which is important for backsplash applications. If you decide to change your color scheme in future years, you can paint directly over the powder coated tin panels.
