For years, our kitchen ceiling was an old, dated, dropped ceiling. Then, we found American Tin Ceiling's website, and were thrilled that we could get panels specifically made to drop into existing ceiling grids. I am a "DIY wannabee," but I was initially scared to attempt this project. However, with the help of my husband, we had a brand new, beautiful ceiling which we completed in one weekend. We painted the grid a satin white enamel prior to installing the panels, and they matched the new ceiling perfectly. This project was the easiest one, with the best results, and the biggest impact that we have done, so far. The kitchen is the first room that all our visitors see when they come into our house. We are so proud of the ceiling and the fact that we did it ourselves.

Our kitchen ceiling was an ugly 1970's suspended ceiling, with acoustical panels. Ever since buying our house in 1987, I have hated that ceilng, and wanted a change. Earlier this year, I decided that that ceiling had to go, but was on a tight budget, and also cannot do a lot of work, due to a back injury. I have always loved the look of tin ceilings, but didn't think we could achieve it. When I discovered the drop-in panels from American Tin Ceiling, I found the answer to my prayers, and I finally have a ceiling that I love showing to all my friends and family. After receiving the panels, all we had to do was paint the grid, and drop in the panels. Obviously, the panels on the perimeter had to be cut to size, but it all went very well, and we totally changed our ceiling in one weekend. We have gone from drab and depressing to dazzling and dramatic! If we can do it, anyone can! Our job proves that even small ceilings can look grand with tin ceiling tiles!

Why are Tin Ceilings so popular today?

Tin Ceilings remind us of a different time in our country's history. Tin Ceilings stir memories of gentler days when elegance and beauty reigned. A slower paced era where style and grace were the watchwords in home decor. Old time victorian homes, formal parlors, farmhouses with wood burning stoves and other historic architecture we've seen in literature and film or remember from our childhood.

It is said that "Everything Old Becomes New Again". It reinvents itself and becomes fashionable again, perhaps because it was so fashionable in the first place. Fashion goes in and out of style as modern ideas are introduced to the market. But the popular styling's of the past always cycle back into modern contemporary culture. The Tin Ceiling exemplifies this concept.
