When American Tin Ceilings and world-renowned designer Clodagh came together, the goal was simple: to breathe new life into a timeless material.  

Tin ceilings have long been a beloved architectural feature, but Clodagh saw an opportunity to bring them into the modern era—refining their patterns, expanding their applications, and introducing a fresh, minimalist approach that aligns with her holistic design philosophy.  

The result is an innovative, versatile, and sensory-driven tin panel collection that balances classic craftsmanship with contemporary simplicity.

The Vision  

A Modern Take on a Classic Material 

Clodagh drew on decades of design experience, historic design principles, and her own world travels to create these new tin tile patterns. Japanese Zen gardens, organic biophilia, and a love of color all influenced the development of the designs.  

Beyond these, the collection also emphasizes flexibility in layout. Unlike traditional tin ceilings, which often feature non-directional, repetitive patterns, these designs allow for multiple configurations. This innovation gives homeowners, designers, and architects the freedom to customize their installations in ways that best suit their spaces. 

Refining the vision — a more detailed plaster model takes shape as Clodagh’s tin panel pattern evolves from concept to creation.

Expanding the Use of Tin Beyond Ceilings 

A key goal of this collaboration was to expand the ways in which tin panels are used in interior design. While tin ceilings have long been a hallmark of historic architecture, Clodagh and American Tin Ceilings sought to push the boundaries—encouraging designers to think beyond the ceiling.

The Creative Process 

From Concept to Craftsmanship 

Developing this collection was a true collaboration between Clodagh’s studio and American Tin Ceilings. Clodagh and her team began with concept sketches and inspiration boards, refining ideas in conversation with American Tin Ceilings’ artisans. 

Once the designs were finalized, they were digitized and carefully translated into tin—a process that required close attention to detail and an understanding of how embossing techniques would affect the final product. By working closely with American Tin Ceilings’ technicians, the team ensured that each design was both visually striking and true to the craftsmanship of traditional tinwork.
