Where History Meets Hospitality: How Woody’s Elevated Their Guest Experience without Sacrificing Character

Woody’s isn’t just a bar. It’s a community staple tucked inside a 100-year-old building—a place where locals gather, memories are made, and stories echo across tables and barstools. But after more than 30 years in business, even the most beloved spaces need a little rejuvenation.

For Woody’s, the challenge was clear: how do you modernize a historic space without stripping away its soul? Their old fiberglass ceiling tiles were dull, underperforming, and hard to keep clean. The bar's low ceilings and lively energy created an acoustic challenge, making it difficult for guests and staff to hold a conversation when the place got busy (which was often).

"We needed to brighten up the space without losing charm or character. Cleanability was also very important," the team at Woody’s shared. And they knew one thing for sure: standard acoustic tiles weren’t going to cut it.

Design That Speaks the Language of the Building

Woody’s turned to American Tin Ceilings to find a solution that met both their aesthetic and acoustic needs. The answer? Acoustic-backed tin ceiling tiles that offered the best of both worlds: superior sound control and stunning design. Designers selected Pattern #7 in Artisan Silver Tuscan Bronze.

"The vibe of tin ceilings is unmatched," they explained. "Our 100-year-old building deserved a complimentary design that was timeless."

The team opted to install the acoustic tiles primarily over the bar—an area known for its low ceilings and high volume. With the new ceiling in place, Woody’s could pump up the music and still maintain an environment where guests could enjoy a lively atmosphere and actually hear each other.

From Echoey to Inviting

Atmosphere is everything in the hospitality world, and Woody’s understands that better than most. "Atmosphere is almost as important as food in our business," they said. "Folks need to feel comfortable and in a space that’s unique."

With their new ceiling in place, Woody’s was able to preserve the character of their historic building while upgrading the guest experience in a meaningful way. The acoustic tiles enhanced both the look and feel of the space, offering a cleaner, brighter appearance that fit perfectly with the bar’s vintage aesthetic.

"It feels like these have always been here," they noted. "We get compliments every day."

A Smart Upgrade That Guests Feel Without Seeing

The best design solutions are often the ones you don’t notice right away. Woody’s acoustic tin ceiling doesn’t scream for attention—it simply belongs. It elevates the space without overpowering it, allowing guests to enjoy the energy of a busy bar without feeling overwhelmed by noise.

For historic spaces like Woody’s, American Tin Ceilings offers more than just products. It offers partnership, design expertise, and materials that respect the past while enhancing the present.
